DOWN THE LINE
about these designs.
Down the Line is a music program put on by the Fort Wayne Embassy every year. They bring in cover bands to cover some of the greatest music for a night of fun at the Embassy! Students from the University of Saint Francis get to design the slides that go behind the cover bands when they perform. The bands change yearly and its always something different, 2024 DTL was inspired by the 90s.
The Pearl Jam typographic poster you see was based on old insurance agency signage and the old wood type era. I loved this style of design and really wanted to play with adding elements of the 90s, like the shape of the tape deck, cassette and speakers.
The Alice in Chains design features a hand drawn image by me. Alice in Chains is my favorite band and I wanted to capture the essence of their music within this image. It’s sludgy, it’s raw, it’s impactful, and that’s exactly what I wanted this design to be.
The Soundgarden design is based on the image of frontman Chris Cornell. I wanted to create a custom blocky type that really represents the metal aspects featured in the band.
The Hole design is taken off their 1994 album “Live Through This”, the face is an iconic pose and I really wanted to capture just that moment. I used a lot of texture to really show that grit that Hole has in their music as well.
